Prime Time

This month, we headed back to Sugar Land, to sample the burgers at Beck's Prime.

Beck's Prime is a Houston-based chain, specializing in "gourmet burgers and salads."  They've been around since the mid-1980s, and have established a solid reputation: they've made "Best Burger" lists in publications ranging from Texas Monthly to USA Today.

It was an unusually temperate day for late May, so we chose to eat outside.  The restaurant is set back few hundred feet from the madness that is Highway 6, effectively shielding it from traffic noise, and the outdoor dining area is canopied by a stand of lovely live oak trees.

"Al Fresco?  Wasn't he a shortstop for the Phillies?"

The burger is magnificent: char-grilled, juicy, and adorned with just the right amount of grilled onions, cheese and salad items.  And the egg bun is perfect.  It's a great meal (heck, with prices starting at $12.50 for burger and fries, it should be).  And with Our Only Daughter visiting from her humble student's garret in the Shadow of the Everlasting Hills, a pleasant experience was made perfect!

All this...

...and ducks!

The fries and lemonade are excellent, as well.  All in all, a wonderful burger, in a wonderful setting, on a wonderful Saturday afternoon.

Continuing the fine family tradition of wee bonnie gingers...

Lynda visited Beck's Prime several years ago, and didn't like it.  She's changed her mind:

This was my second time to eat at Beck's Prime, and I am singing a different tune about the place.  I loved it!  It's not cheap, but the burger was big and delicious, and the side salad was fresh and substantial.  The ambience was lovely, except for the cawing of the birds and a few flies, and the company was delightful.  This is my first place place out if the four we have tried.  Beck's Prime did not disappoint!

 Erin concurs:

This was my favorite hamburger place so far.  Even though I have enjoyed the previous places, after eating a Beck’s Primer, oh, I must change my ratings!  All things made this place perfect…the juicy hickory burger, the company, and the venue were a hit.  I really enjoyed the whole experience….dining outside, catching up, and eating a delicious burger with a wonderful bun, sauce, and condiments to add to this flavorful meal.

Love Beck’s Prime!!!

Debbie makes it unanimous:

This place was delectable!  My favorite burger thus far: Large, juicy, flavorful...it hit the spot.  And the side order of black beans was unique and delicious.

Loved Beck's Prime!  A bit costly would be my only negative.

Mo and Henry come a bit late to the party:

This is my favorite burger so far.  The meat is lovely and cooked right.  It's a filling burger, too.  Tastes great!  I rate it a 10!

I really loved Beck's Prime.  Everything about it was delicious!  I liked it so much that it was my choice for my birthday dinner.  And I had another burger!  I rate it 15 out of 10!  Not quite In-N-Out, but it's close!
